Installing
Download Book In Your Hand, open the disk image and drag Book In Your Hand to Applications. New versions install by themselves; Book In Your Hand › Check for Updates… looks right away.
The assistant says “not signed in”
Book In Your Hand uses the AI apps you already have. For Claude, install Claude Code and sign in with your Claude account: Settings › AI › Sign In… opens Terminal with the sign-in command. For ChatGPT, install the ChatGPT app and sign in with your ChatGPT account. API keys are not used.
The text does not fit
Every edition uses one text size on every page, so a long text never gets smaller letters. Open the Check panel: Fix Layout makes room with a soft cloud where the picture allows, or splits the page. You can also drag the text place, shorten the text, or ask the assistant.
A picture covers two pages
Turn on “Two-page picture” in the Page panel on the left page. An imported book only proposes it; you confirm. A two-page picture must start on a left-hand page — the check offers a one-click fix if it doesn't.
Printing on Amazon
Export › Amazon print: interior PDF (upload as the manuscript with Bleed) and Amazon print: cover PDF. Amazon needs at least 24 pages; the export adds blank pages at the end if the book is shorter.
Uninstalling
Drag Book In Your Hand from Applications to the Trash. Your books are folders and stay where you saved them.
